Excerpt from Annual Statement of the Receipts and Expenditures of the City of Charlestown, for the Financial Year Ending February 28, 1865: And the Report of the Chief Engineer

The Joint Standing Committee on Finance, who, by an Order of the City Council, dated February 13, 1865, were authorized to audit the accounts of the late City Treasurer, L. W. Chamberlin, and to transfer the Funds, Books and Papers in his possession to his successor in office, L. E. Pearson,-report, That they have attended to that duty, and find the late Treasurer's account to be correctly cast and properly vouched, and that there remained in his hands on the 28th day of February, 1865, a balance of Seven Thousand Four Hundred Sixty-six Dollars and three cents, which has been turned over to his successor in ofiice, together with the books, papers and documents in his possession belonging to the City.
