Care policies encompass public actions related to the social and economic organization of work aimed at guaranteeing the daily physical and emotional wellbeing of people with some level of dependency. These policies consider both the recipients of care and the caregivers, and include measures aimed at guaranteeing access to services, time and resources for caring and being cared for, as well as ensuring their quality through regulations and supervision. The Social Development Division, based on a focus on the rights of the subjects and providers of care, promotes the consolidation of care as a pillar of social protection, which should be guided by the principles of equality and intergenerational and gender solidarity, and be articulated in legislation, policies, programs and services that constitute integrated care systems.
