O knihe

Cerebral palsy (CP) is the leading cause of motor disability in children. The objective of this study is to describe the epidemiological and clinical profile of this pathology in a population of children in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso. This is a descriptive cross-sectional study with prospective collection of patients aged 0 to 15 years received in physical therapy consultation at the Sourô Sanou University Hospital in the PRM department between July 1, 2012 and June 30, 2013. Our series involved 174 children representing 21.48% of consultations with an average age of 33 months. The predominance was male (66%) or a sex ratio of 1.56. However, almost half (40.8%) of the patients consulted without a referral and the average consultation time was 104 weeks (26 months), predominantly in the age group between 12 and 30 months. Cerebral palsy thus remains a health problem in our daily practice and calls for preventive measures to improve the psychomotor development of children.
