Not only is the Bureau at a loss as to why these artifacts are being stolen, but the way they are being removed. They just seem to disappear. Agent Hayward is teamed with old friend Scott Ryan, in an attempt to locate the artifacts and the individuals responsible for their theft. Through research, clues and contacts, the investigation takes some unusual turns. Meet an assortment of characters as the two follow one lead after another in their quest to find the artifacts before a shadowy group of individuals are able to link the artifacts together to form what could be a device of salvation or destruction.
