Absolute doubt helps to discover this truth. Descartes finally discovers something that is unmistakable, something that he cannot question and of which he is truly sure and certain. Descartes' first truth remains the famous "I think therefore I am". Thus, it is from this truth that he will be able to build other knowledge, other truths and thus to found and build his philosophy.
