Dis-cow-very is a beautifully illustrated story book with a very important life lesson: It shows that it is not safe to go wandering off on your own. In this book 'discovery' and 'cow' have been put together to make a fun word 'dis-cow-very' - something new, seen or found by a cow.
Molly the cow is a dreamer. She often dreams of leaving the farm she lives on to go exploring. She wants to find something new and make a discovery. She thinks she has seen everything there is to see in her field. One day Molly decides to chew the rope holding the gate closed and run through it.
The grass on the other side seems to be the same as the grass in the field she lives in. She looks up, down and all around for something new. The trees, birds and butterflies also look the same. But she carries on walking, looking for something new. She is tired from all the walking and falls asleep. Suddenly a noise wakes her up. She realizes that wandering off on her own is not such a good idea - what if there is something new that wants to hurt her?
She runs all the way back to the farm, where she will be safe.
The farmer is waiting there for Molly. He is happy to see her and locks the gate behind her. Molly now understands that the gate is not there to stop her from making discoveries but to keep all the cows safe. She starts looking for new things on the farm and finds them, like a beautiful flower and some fireflies. One day she finds the most exciting thing of all: a chameleon.
Molly understands that she does not have to go somewhere to find something new and that it is dangerous to go off on her own. Her lovely grassy field is the best place to be!
