Cutaneous melanoma is the most lethal skin cancer. It can develop de novo or from a preexisting lesion such as a dysplastic nevus. In recent years, its incidence has increased gradually. Early detection and early surgical removal are associated with increased survival. As dysplastic nevi are potential precursors of melanoma and are associated with increased risk of melanoma, it's quite important to diagnose, screen and follow up patients with dysplastic nevus.
