The slim volume you are holding is a selection of the authors poems over nearly fifty years. He decided to gather these poems in chronological order so the reader can see an evolutionary pattern emerging over the years. The poems here were chosen because they were written during times of his life when he experienced difficult transitions. The author claims we all have a beast within. A beast filled with all the human passions, waiting to come out and play. Most people keep that beast well hidden, out of sight. Some great authors let that beast out of the closet to do its bidding like, Cavafy, Pound, Jeffers, Cummings, Purdy, Bukowski, Sexton, Rukeyser, and Szymborska. Not only did they let the beast out to roam the public streets without a leash but milked that beast for everything it was worth. This little Chapbook is the authors own beast, his madness, his passion.
