As Michelle becomes a teenager, Beth notices that Michelle is changing. She spends more and more time with her friends, talks constantly on her telephone, and seems to be angry a lot. Beth doesn't understand what is happening, and it often makes her sad that Michelle doesn't seem to care about her anymore-especially when Michelle moves into her own apartment and Beth is left behind.
