Phenomenal Brotha

"The black man had his kingdom, but it was taken from him. He's lost and now he's looking for it." -Paule Aboite

Rich and masterfully written, Phenomenal Brotha: blood, sweat, & ink is an earthy, rhythmic, soul stirring collection of poems from the mind and pulse of playwright and performance poet L. E. Colston II. Colston infuses readers with honesty, compassion, vigor, and change with his imitable and lithe imagery as well as a devout respect for the masterful craft of storytelling. His approach is honest and heartfelt, witty and inspiring, unafraid to tackle the complex issues of identity, love, pain, race, and the taboo in poems like "Tar Baby", "Her", "Him", "The Nigger" parts 1 & 2, and his renowned "Phenomenal Brotha", answer to the breath taking and empowering Maya Angelou poem, "Phenomenal Woman".

Phenomenal Brotha: blood, sweat, & ink announces itself like the dawn with a familiar kindness uncommon in many poetic works. Passionate and pithy, polemical and moist, Colston's poems bring fresh radiance and resurrect left for dead emotions and themes that span racial and cultural lines. The end result is a delightfully wonderful collection of moving life stories dancing to it's own spirited poetic drum.
