The book results from the experience gained by the authors in design and consulting capacities with the United States Navy and Army. However, the scope is not limited to American practice, as European sources of information have been drawn upon freely, particularly regarding semirigids.
At the time of original publication Thomas L. Blakemore was Chief, Balloon and Airship Branch, Engineering Division, U. S. Army Air Corps; and W. Watters Pagon was a Member of the Special Committee on Design of Navy Airship ZR-1 and Army Airship RS-1.
