Apical surgery is the standard endodontic surgical procedure to maintain a tooth with significant periapical lesion that cannot be treated with conventional endodontic retreatment. When any non-surgical or conventional endodontic treatment fails, apical surgery or apicoectomy is the procedure which is mostly conducted as retreatment.
