Taxidermy provokes deeply enigmatic encounters with the natural world, from the case of hunting trophies, to educational purposes, to fashion wearables. It is not just the animal which is on display, but attitudes towards elements of nature, whether individual or collective. The ideals of taxidermy exposing different attitudes towards what nature is, and how it should be used is be discussed, whether for the sake of pride, memento-mori, education or social commentary.
