Liber Regulae Pastoralis (The Book of the Pastoral Rule) is a treatise on the duties of the clergy written by Pope Gregory I (540 - 604 A.D.) about 590 A.D., shortly after he was ordained as pope. This reproduction of the text is adapted into modern English using the Nicene and Post-Nicene Fathers, Second Series, Vol. 12. Edited by Philip Schaff and Henry Wace. (Buffalo, NY: Christian Literature Publishing Co., 1895.) translated by James Barmby (1822-1897). All the original footnotes are included along with a full table of contents.
