Michael dreamed of a life outside of the subterranean bunker that had protected his people for decades from the biological weapon unleashed by international terrorists in the year 2015. He didn t believe the Elders who maintained that the cataclysm had rendered the outside world uninhabitable. His love for the Mayor s daughter Betsy was the only thing that stayed his hand. When the Mayor plots Michael s execution, Betsy defies her father and helps Michael escape.
