O knihe
Poverty is a global phenomenon. Its intensity differs across regions of the world. Even within Africa, the influence of poverty in its Sub-Saharan region is very pathetic and alarming. In the midst of this global reality, the government of nations, scholars and NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) have addressed and possibly still addressing poverty from social, economic and political perspectives. While social, economic and political responses to poverty are necessary, these methods neglect a very important approach - theological approach. As much as poverty is a global socioeconomic cum political concern, it is equally a theological issue. This book therefore examined and addressed the problem of poverty, especially in Sub-Saharan Africa from a theological perspective. Most significantly, theological functions of the church (preaching/teaching, caring and showing love, instilling hope in people in the midst of challenges and others) in addressing the piteous condition of poverty in Sub-Saharan Africa are explicitly discussed.
