The Terra Nova Expedition, which was officially known as the British Antarctic Expedition 1910, was led by Robert Falcon Scott with the objective of being the first to reach the South Pole. Scott and his team successfully reached the pole on the 17th of January 1912 but found that a Norwegian team led by Roald Amundsen had preceded them by 33 days.
