Combining conceptual metaphor theory, classical narratology and ethical criticism, this study traces the connection of infinity and ethics in 21st-century novels. The ¿fictions of infinity¿ it analyses contain structures that allow for their metaphorical understanding as infinite texts. This infinite textuality is shown to disrupt reading patterns and, paralleling the role of infinity in Levinasian ethics, endow texts with an ethical impetus.
