Kurztext This work is devoted to a multidimensional study of such a complex and interesting genre of literature as parody. It presents the typology of parody, its cognitive properties, describes the intertextual and polyferential nature of the parody. The author suggests the system of linguistic means of parody which are based on such principles as analogy and contrast. The monograph analyses the folklore and playful roots of parody. The theoretical premises are accompanied by the study of extensive material, represented by parodies of English-speaking authors of the 18th, 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. The monograph is intended for students and postgraduates of philological faculties, teachers and a wide range of linguistic researchers.
